The Part That Actually Delays Appliance Deliveries: Building Permits
Before fridges and washing machines: the thing that derails most appliance deliveries in Dubai isn’t the appliance. It’s the building.
Most Dubai towers require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or move permit from building management before any crew can use the service lift. Buildings enforce this at the security desk. A crew that arrives without one gets turned away, with the appliance still on the truck.
What this typically involves (requirements vary by building; always confirm directly with your management office):
- Advance notice, commonly 48 to 72 hours, though some buildings ask for less and others require a week
- A refundable deposit in many towers, held against damage to lobbies, lifts, or corridors; amounts vary significantly from building to building
- Restricted move windows: weekdays only, or specific daytime hours, in several communities
- A separate service lift booking, distinct from the NOC approval itself, in high-rise towers
If you’re buying a fridge for Saturday delivery and your building only permits moves Sunday to Thursday, the appliance sits in a truck until management says otherwise. Check with your building as soon as you have a delivery date, not the night before.

What Counts as Appliance Delivery in Dubai?
Appliance delivery covers the pickup and transport of a large appliance (fridge, washing machine, cooker, dishwasher, AC unit) from one address to another, without booking a full house move. It applies whether you bought from a private seller, a store, a warehouse, or you’re relocating an appliance you already own between two properties.

When You Don't Need a Full House Move?
If the job is one appliance, the real challenge is usually the building’s access rules, not the item itself. This is the right call when you’ve:
- Bought a used appliance from a private seller or Dubizzle
- Ordered from a store that doesn’t deliver to your building or area
- Collected from a warehouse or showroom
- Replaced an old appliance with a new one
- Moved an appliance between two homes you own
- Need one piece of equipment moved for an office
Check dimensions against the actual route before booking. A fridge that fits inside a room can still fail to clear a doorway, lift, or stairwell. A double-door fridge typically weighs somewhere in the 100 to 150kg range, which is not something two people should improvise down a stairwell.
How long does appliance delivery take in Dubai? Most single-item deliveries within the emirate are completed the same day when booked before midday: the physical job is usually quick once access is confirmed. The variable is almost always the building permit. If your building requires an NOC you haven’t started, add at least a day, sometimes two, before the appliance can move.
Fridge & Refrigerator Delivery
Refrigerators need more planning than most appliances: heavy, top-heavy, and genuinely sensitive to handling.
We transport single-door and double-door fridges, side-by-side and French-door models, fridge-freezer combos, upright freezers, and commercial units.
Measure the appliance and check the route (entrance, lift, hallway, staircase, final doorway) at both ends. Send photos if the path is tight. Some older towers in Deira and Bur Dubai have service lifts that genuinely can’t take a double-door fridge, which only becomes obvious once the crew is standing there with it.
Should a fridge be transported lying down or upright? Upright, whenever possible. Laying it down can let compressor oil drain into the cooling lines. If it must be tilted briefly to clear a doorway, keep the angle under roughly 45° and let it stand upright for a few hours (check your manufacturer’s guidance; some models need longer) before switching it on. A surprising share of “the fridge stopped cooling after we moved it” complaints trace back to switching it on too soon after being laid flat.
Washing Machine Pickup & Delivery
Washing machines are heavy with awkward, top-loaded weight distribution: genuinely difficult to move through stairwells or narrow corridors. A standard front-load machine typically weighs in the 65 to 90kg range.

Before collection:
- Empty the machine and remove loose items from the drum
- Fit transit/shipping bolts if your model uses them, following the manufacturer’s instructions. This protects the suspension and is one of the most common causes of transport damage when skipped
- Tell us if the machine is still plumbed in, built into cabinetry, or on an upper floor with stairs-only access

Ask the seller: Exact pickup address and floor, and whether there's a working lift Is the appliance already disconnected? Dimensions, and will it clear the building entrance? Parking near the entrance? Does the pickup building need NOC notice, and has the seller sorted theirs? Ask for photos of the rating label and the route out of the property. Those two checks prevent most failed or regretted pickups.
Voltage and plug compatibility
You agree on a price, then find out pickup is on you. That part’s easy to solve. The part that catches buyers out is voltage.
Dubai runs on 230V, 50Hz, Type G (UK-style three-pin) plug. Appliances from sellers relocating from the UK, most of Europe, Australia, or most of Africa generally work fine, sometimes with just a plug adapter.
The risk is sellers relocating from the US, Canada, or Japan, where household appliances are built for 110 to 120V. Plugging one into a 230V socket without a step-down transformer risks burning out the motor, compressor, or control board immediately, not a slow degradation. This is a genuinely common trap when the Dubizzle seller is a departing American or Japanese expat who doesn’t think to mention it.
Before you pay: check the voltage rating on the appliance’s rear label or spec plate. If it reads 110 to 120V, either walk away or budget for a transformer rated for that appliance’s wattage, a real, ongoing cost for something like a fridge or washer. We’ll move the appliance either way, but we can’t tell you it’ll work once it’s plugged in. That check is on you before cash changes hands.

Commercial & Freezer Transport
Commercial refrigeration needs more planning than a household fridge: size, weight, and often a separate loading-dock booking system on top of any building NOC.
Covers commercial refrigerators and freezers, display chillers, upright commercial freezers, and under-counter units. Send dimensions and approximate weight before booking. For larger units, check access at both ends: loading bays, service entrances, basement parking, restricted delivery hours. Confirm voltage on imported commercial equipment; the same 230V rule applies at industrial scale, with higher stakes.
Oven, Cooker, Dishwasher & Microwave Transport
Transport is separate from technical disconnection. Covers freestanding, electric, and gas cookers, ranges, built-in ovens and hobs, dishwashers, microwaves, and suitable commercial units.
- Gas cookers: confirm who’s disconnecting before we arrive. DEWA-regulated gas connections need a licensed specialist, not a delivery crew.
- Built-in units: check the unit is freed from surrounding cabinetry before pickup.
- Dishwashers: confirm freestanding vs. built-in, and whether it’s disconnected from water and drainage, before booking.
AC & Other Connected Appliances
Air conditioning units are often still connected to electrical wiring and refrigerant lines. If a unit is currently installed, it needs specialist disconnection before transport. Refrigerant handling isn’t part of standard delivery, and it isn’t legal for an unlicensed person to do it. The same principle applies to anything still connected to gas, water, electricity, or drainage: transport and technical disconnection are two different jobs unless you’ve confirmed both with us in advance.
Insurance & Damage
Your appliance is covered under our transit handling policy from the moment it’s loaded to the moment it’s delivered. If damage happens during loading, transit, or unloading due to our handling, we’re responsible for repair or fair compensation. Confirm specific terms and value caps when you book, especially for high-value or commercial equipment.
Not covered: pre-existing damage, age-related wear, voltage damage from an incompatible appliance, or issues from the appliance not being properly prepared (loose transit bolts, food left in a fridge). This is why the prep checklist below matters as much as the transport itself.
Booking: Residential, Office, or Business
Apartments & villas: Towers in Marina, JLT, and Business Bay frequently need service lift bookings 24 to 72 hours ahead, on top of the NOC. Miss the window and delivery pushes to the next slot. Villa communities (Arabian Ranches, Al Furjan) rarely have lift or NOC issues, but distance from parking to the door adds time, and some gated communities require advance visitor vehicle registration.
Offices & commercial addresses: Common jobs include office fridges, coffee machines, water dispensers, cafe and restaurant equipment, and commercial dishwashers. DIFC, Business Bay, and Downtown often layer commercial security sign-in on top of the same NOC-style permit, sometimes with tighter windows tied to building operating hours.
Have ready when booking: appliance dimensions and approximate weight, pickup/delivery entrance details, lift dimensions or stair access, parking or loading area, building restrictions, delivery time window, and confirmation the unit is disconnected and ready to move.

What Affects Cost
No flat rate. Cost depends on appliance type, number of items, size and weight, distance, floor level, lift availability, stairs, parking, building restrictions, and residential vs. commercial access. A building’s NOC deposit is a separate, refundable cost between you and building management, not part of our quote, and we’ll flag it if we know your building requires one.
